LGA Conference and Annual General Meeting
The Local Government Association of South Australia (LGA) Annual General Meeting is one of the ultimate decision-making and policy setting forums for the LGA. In addition to the formal elements of the Annual General Meeting, the Conference provides important informal networking opportunities for Local Government delegates.

The 2017 LGA Conference and Annual General Meeting was held on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 November at Adelaide Oval.
The theme for the conference was Relevance, Resilience and Reputation.
The keynote speaker on day 1 (Wednesday 15 November) was Dan Gregory. A well-known panelist on ABC's 'Gruen Transfer' and marketing consultant to the biggest global brands he is the Co-Founder, President and CEO of The Impossible Institute™, a strategic think-tank that helps organisations make positive change and make change positive!
Other speakers included the Lord Mayor Martin Haese, City of Adelaide; Mayor David O'Loughlin, ALGA President; Cr David Clark, Deputy President of MAV who talked about the Victorian rate capping experience; Lou Boyle from LGAQ and Russell Petan from Telstra who who walked about their partnerships and how they helped future proof Queensland councils.
Day 2 (Thursday 16 November) we heard from Senator Nick Xenophon.
Following Nicks address we heard from two panels about the "state of politics". The first panel included, Nick Xenophon, Australian Senator; Hon Robert Brokenshire MLC, Australian Conservatives; Hon Kelly Vincent MLC, Dignity Party and Hon Mark Parnell MLC, Greens SA.
The second panel included Cathie King, political commentator; Professor Dean Jaensch, Flinders University and Nick Harmsen from the ABC.
Both panels will be facilitated by Mike Smithson from Channel 7.
