American River Toilets closed for maintenance

Council would like to advise residents and visitors that the toilet block at American River Campground will remain closed over the weekend for completion of scheduled maintenance. It will reopen on Monday morning. Portable toilets will be set up near by (either at the campground or the town hall) and available for use during this time.

National Firearms Amnesty July-Sept 2017

Australia’s first National Firearms Amnesty aimed at reducing the number of unregistered firearms in our community runs from 1 July to 30 September 2017. During the three-month amnesty, anyone can hand in unregistered firearms or firearm-related items for registration or surrender at approved drop-off points without penalty and without fear of prosecution. In Australia, it is illegal to have an unregistered firearm. Outside of the amnesty period, anyone caught with an unregistered firearm could face a fine of up to $280,000, 14 years in jail, and a criminal record. Information about individual state and territory requirements, including how and where to surrender firearms, can be found at www.firearmsamnesty.ag.gov.au or by calling 1800 909 826.

The District Council of Barunga West is pleased to advise that its round of Community Grants has commenced. The Council has allocated $30,000 in 2017/18 for the purposes of Community Grants. We are now inviting applications from any group in the Council area for grant funding to a maximum of $5,000 for a specific project. Applications will close at 5pm on Friday 1st of September 2017. All applications must be submitted on a prescribed form, which can be collected from the Council offices, or downloaded directly from Council’s website www.barungawest.sa.gov.au For more information please contact the Council on 8635 2107.
